Ce Topic (week #1)

Sorry for posting late this week but my topic is should there be a year long or balanced school year.

There are benifits and cons to this suggestion. Personally, I can't decide if I agree or don't. Let me make a couple of pros and cons for this topic and then you can decide for yourself. First, having a year round school is not such a bad idea since many people forget a few things they learned in the two months vacation that we recieve (July to August). This also benefits students that come out of the country. If they come at the time we have our break, they can't learn anything. The year long school allows students to jump right into the semester and not have to wait until the new one begins. I don't know exactly how the breaks would work. I don't know how they would be split up but I know there would be some kind of break.

Now this year long break may be split up, and when split up may not be as long as we hope. This will not give students as much time for vacation and time to spend with family and friends. This is when we get to the cons. As I said, this will give students the same amount of vacation time, but will be split up. Another con is that a lot of people sign up for summer camps and summer sports and without the summer break students will not be able to attend them. Some businesses may even go out of services.

Anyway, you can decide if having a school year round is a con or pro. After this I have decided that it is a con due to what I said in these paragraphs. Not enough time to travel and time to spend with family and friends. Although having school all year will make you stay in the same routine and state than when you come off the holidays. You may also remember more. I feel this is still a con. Hope this may change your mind or view this situation from a different point.

  1. Hi Arthur :)
Great job on your post! You've made some good points on the benefits and disadvantages of Year-round schooling. There are a few things I've noticed that you can do to enhance your essay. 1. Refrain from using a strict structure. By this I mean listing your pros and cons. Though it's an effective method of getting your point across, adding more transitions, mixing/contrasting the ideas and including more personal opinion to make the essay more engaging. Being flexible but still cocise and clear in your writing is a challenging thing to do, but I'm sure that you can do it with more practice. 2. Use less "I "s and "I'll let you decide"s. You should focus on presenting the facts and persuading the audience that your opinion is the correct one. 3. Use more variety in your vocabulary. A thesaurus will help :)

Overall, you did a great job! These are just some tips to keep in mind.
